Ruger LCP: this seems to be the go to pocket gun. I draw it slower out of the pocket because it is shorter in length and height making it a deeper draw from the pocket than say the G42. I bought an LCP well before the 42 was even an online rumor. Does the Ruger shoot as well as any Glock? No. But the 42 is not enough smaller than my 26 to even consider as a replacement for the LCP. At least for me. If I want small I go LCP. If I want capacity and confidence I carry the 26. I just don't think there will be a 42 in my collection.

The original LCP was nothing more than a "copy" of the P-3AT whereas the new LCP II is a bit larger and heavier with a much improved trigger. For me the G42 is just too big for pocket carry. I would have to carry IWB or OWB. The LC380 is essentially a Ruger LC9 that's been converted from 9mm to .380 ACP. It's a hair bigger than the Glock 42, but looks like a giant next to it's little brother, the Ruger LCP. For the budget-concious, the LC380 is about $100-150 less than the Glock, and at the price point, it's a pretty good deal.The Glock 42's operation is simple.
